Take Ecology's Nonpoint Conservation District Survey today!

Please fill out this survey by Feb. 21, 2025.

The Department of Ecology is in the process of updating the state’s Water Quality Management Plan to Control Nonpoint Sources of Pollution (Nonpoint Plan), which outlines Washington’s approach to address water quality impacts from nonpoint sources of pollution. As a part of our process to update the Nonpoint Plan, they want to hear from you!

Ecology is surveying key partners and restoration practitioners to better understand your priorities, the challenges and successes in your work to address nonpoint pollution, as well as opportunities for enhanced collaboration.

Feedback received from these surveys will help inform our Plan’s update and ongoing program efforts.

The Nonpoint Plan is a statewide plan that describes how we meet Clean Water Act requirements and ensures eligibility for 319 grant and loan funding, and includes discussion of:

  • Sources and impacts of nonpoint source pollution in WA state
  • The state’s regulatory framework for addressing nonpoint source pollution
  • Strategies and goals to address nonpoint source pollution
  • Water quality partnerships
  • Financial incentives programs
  • Recommended management practices

It takes collective action to limit nonpoint pollution and protect water quality in Washington. While Ecology is responsible for maintaining the Plan, it covers holistic strategies and partnerships across the state. Ecology’s Nonpoint Program works closely with private landowners, other agencies, local partners, and Tribes across the state to implement clean water solutions and we are committed to successful partnerships. Conservation Districts, in particular, are important partners in this work.

If interested, fill out our Conservation District Nonpoint Plan Survey by February 21st. Responses are anonymous, unless you elect to provide your information.

Please reach out to Ecology’s Nonpoint Program Communications Coordinator, Kate Loy (kathryn.loy@ecy.wa.gov) with questions related to the survey or our 2025 Nonpoint Plan update.
