Mike Poteet is starting as SCC's new VSP Coordinator

Mike Poteet joins SCC today, Dec. 16, 2024, as the Voluntary Stewardship Program (VSP) Coordinator. 

Mike has  spent five years as the Senior Planner for Pierce County’s Agriculture  Program, advocating for agricultural industry needs, supporting rural  landowners, and connecting local farms to relevant programs and resources.

Mike received his B.S. in Agriculture from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee and his M.S. in Soil Science from Pennsylvania State University where he studied soil carbon sequestration and conservation tillage.

Following graduate school, Mike worked in multiple natural resources and agricultural positions in Oregon, Hawaii, Washington, and Tennessee before settling in Olympia. He has spent over 25 years working on and with farms as a laborer, consultant, grower, scientist, production manager, and regulator.
