Making Waves: The Ripple Effect Campaign Launches Statewide

The Washington State Conservation Commission (SCC) is excited to announce the Ripple Effect education campaign, running through May 31, 2025. This statewide media initiative is designed to raise awareness about the importance of Washington’s waterways, riparian restoration, and conservation programs.

The campaign highlights how land managers, farmers, ranchers, and the public can actively enhance and restore rivers, streams, and creeks to support agricultural productivity and environmental health. To help reach these distinct audiences, two tailored messages were developed—one focused on land managers and working lands, and another designed to engage the general public.

Campaign reach and media outlets

Over the next three months, the Ripple Effect will be featured across multiple media platforms, ensuring widespread visibility:

  • Broadcast TV: Airing in the Seattle market on major networks, reaching an estimated 2.7 million viewers.
  • Streaming Services: Ads on YouTube, Peacock, Hulu, and Roku.
  • Social Media Ads: Running on Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit, reaching over 6.7 million users interested in sustainability and land stewardship.
  • Radio: Featured on stations popular among farmers and land managers across Washington.
  • Billboards & Print Media: Displayed in key rural areas and publications such as the WSU Alumni Magazine, Capital Press, and Wheat Life.
New resource hub

To support this effort, SCC has launched conserve.wa.gov, a public resource hub providing self-guided information on conservation topics.

Visitors can access a statewide resource library, overview of best practices to address natural resource concerns, and guidance on connecting with local conservation districts.

Your ripple-ready toolkit

As awareness grows, it may bring new questions and increased interest at the local level. To support conservation districts in engaging land managers and the public in waterway restoration efforts, an Outreach Toolkit is available at conserve.wa.gov. The toolkit includes:

Feel the ripple? Share the splash!

We’re encouraging districts to share any uptick in community engagement, like phone calls, emails, or technical assistance that comes in as a result of the campaign. Feedback helps us understand the ripple we’re making together!

Spot the Ripple Effect? Let us know!
As the campaign rolls out across the state, we’d love to hear what you’re seeing and hearing! If you catch the ads "in the wild", on TV, streaming, social media, or even a billboard, snap a pic and share it with us.

Share Feedback or find the form at the bottom of conserve.wa.gov.

We’re excited about the impact The Ripple Effect will have in strengthening conservation across Washington. Whether you’re a conservation district, a land manager, an educator, or a community member, thank you for your dedication to Washington’s waterways, landscapes, and the people who depend on them. Your work is what starts the ripple.
