Investigation of Thurston Conservation District board members concludes

Staff of the Washington State Conservation Commission (SCC) have concluded their investigation into the conduct of two members of the Thurston Conservation District (TCD) board of supervisors.

The SCC launched the investigation in response to concerns and complaints it received regarding the conduct of TCD board supervisors Doug Rushton and Paul Pickett. Under state law, the SCC may remove a conservation district supervisor for “neglect of duty or malfeasance in office.”

The full investigation report and responses from Mr. Rushton and Mr. Pickett were presented to the Commissioners at the July 18, 2019 SCC meeting.  The Commissioners are scheduled to discuss the investigation report at the September 19, 2019 SCC meeting.
