The Newaukum Creek watershed is one of several project areas where Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) funding is available to implement the Puget Sound Regional Conservation Partnership Program.

Project goal
  • Improve water quality for salmon
Key activities
  • Complete streamside restoration projects that lower stream temperature and help reduce nutrients and fecal coliform entering the stream
About the watershed
  • Basin drains about 27 square miles of land in portions of King County and the City of Enumclaw
  • Contributes important cold water fish habitat to the Green / Duwamish River system
  • Currently, portions of the creek exhibit unhealthy temperature and oxygen conditions that do not meet state water quality standards
